DAY 40 - New Appointment: Jesus Is Calling Your Name Now! (Please click here for English podcast)

Mission Accomplished! But, not yet!

The coming two days may be one of the most important moment of your life. Why? Because you are going to complete this 40 days Break.Build today. And, you may decide to stop for a while because you need a "break" after 40 days, right?

Don't take a "break"! If you take a "break" then the past 40 days will become a waste. Continue to use this blog to be your "bridge" to meet Jesus each day. I am going to go back to Discipler123 and will start what we left 40 days ago. If you want to continue Day 40 of Break.Build on Matthew 10:1-4 you can click this link to Matthew 10 of my Discipler123 blog Day 31: http://discipler123.blogspot.ca/2011/04/day-31-direction-mission-passion-vision.html

But, I would like you to continue this site because we will be using the new revised and designed format. So, don't take a "break" but to continue using this site. I will return back to "Discipler 123" on Day 163 Exodus 25.

And, I would like you to use the 40 days Break.Build to help someone to have 40 days daily devotion from now on. You can click this link to my new 40 days Break.Build any time you like to have a 40 days "Break.Build" daily devotion as a discipler to help those Jesus prepares for you to help:

Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace. Exhale your worries.

Praise and Thanksgiving

1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3.   Open your heart to praise the Lord

       You are a hiding place for me;
                        you preserve me from trouble;
you surround me with shouts of deliverance.
                                                         Psalm 32:7

Confession and repentance

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to work in you:

“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sin to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gift to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

The Word

Jesus called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out impure spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.
These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.
                                                              Matthew 10:1-4

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

My Listening
Mission accomplished!      Today we come to the life changing moment of Jesus' disciples. There were more than twelve following Jesus since Jesus started His Kingdom ministry when He says:     Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.       Matthew 4:17     The past 40 days is a time for you to be with Jesus just like those disciples following him daily. And, today is the time that Jesus called 12 out of many to be His apostles. He gave them authority to do what He was doing.     It is somewhat like an instructor in a driving school having 40 lessons with his student. He passed the driving examination after that 40 lessons and he gets his license today. Then, he will be on his own from now on.     The difference is that Jesus can be with His disciples any time and any where. That's how He promised His eleven apostles on the day He went up to heaven. That day, the day of Ascension, Jesus gives the most important command to His apostles and to each one of us:     “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”                                                              Matthew 28:18-20     So, what is the difference with today's passage and the message in Matthew 28: 18-20. Well, quite a lot of difference:1. There were 12 in today's passage but only 11 in Matthew 28. Judah killed himself!2. Today's passage was a kind of practicum and Matthew 28 is the real thing. They were really on their own.3. Both passages they received Jesus authority to do the Kingdom ministry Jesus demonstrated to them.4. In Matthew 28, the apostles experienced the dying and rising of Jesus.     Jesus called His apostles and gave them authority. What about you? Is Jesus saying something to you now?      Jesus is calling you now asking you if you are willing to be sent out by Him to do His Kingdom ministry. The most important thing you have to do after following the 40 days of Break.Build is to get two more people to be together for 40 days, using the Break.Build site: http://www.breakbuild.blogspot.ca/. Teaching them and being with them to start this most difficult but most important daily spiritual journey with Jesus. Every Christian knows that having daily devotion is basic but 90% to 95% of Christians are not having daily devotion.     Jesus is calling your name now. Are you willing to accept His new appointment to you to be a discipler to help more people to use this 40 days of Break.Build to start their daily intimate relationship with Jesus. After that, you can follow this Discipler123 for a continuous daily devotion.    Jesus is calling your name now! Your name! Can you hear that?      Dear Lord Jesus,      Lead us to be willing to accept your new appointment to us. Help us to know it is not a difficult job, just to constantly help two people to start a daily intimate relationship with you through 40 days of Break.Build. Help us to know that you have given us the authority to do it and to do other Kingdom ministries you appoint us to do.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
Reflect on these questions:
1. Jesus called His apostles and gave them authority. What about you? Do you think you can receive His authority to you today just like 2,000 years ago?

2.  How do you think of this new appointment? Do you think Jesus is really calling you now? Do you think you are willing to accept this new appointment? Do you think you can do that?

Family Corner:

1. How can you share what you have got in the past 40 days of Break.Build to your family members?

2. Do you think your family can be a place for you to practice to be disciplers?

DAY 11 - New Fulfillment: Fulfill Not to Destroy (Please click here for English podcast)

Silence

Praise and Thanksgiving

1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3.   Open your heart to praise the Lord

      The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup;
                      you hold my lot.
       The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance.         Psalm 16:5-6

Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gift to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

The Word

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.  For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished.  Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.  For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."
                                                                      Matthew 5:17-20

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

My Listening
Jesus started a movement which brings people back to the Kingdom of God. In doing so he was doing two things together. He had to show the Jews that this new movement was the fulfilment of what the Israelites had believed and longed for. And, he had to show to those who followed Him that they needed to live in the new way He was about to teach them and not lived in the old rotten way.

It is not what the Pharisees and the teachers of the law taught was wrong. It is just what they were teaching they could not live it out. It is not what the tradition they brought to the Jews is wrong.  It is just the tradition has become a "dead" tradition and not a life giving tradition.

It is so easy for a Christian to live in a traditional church keeping everything the same and never change. It is also very easy for a Christian to totally destroy the tradition to build up new things.  How can we get the balance to keep those tradition that God commands and change those things in the tradition that God wants us to change is what Jesus wants to teach us today.

I know quite a number of Christians only read New Testament or familiar with New Testament but never read Old Testament. Why? Same reason. A misunderstanding of we as Christians have no need to learn the old things but the new things started with Jesus. This is what Jesus wants to correct in today's passage.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be able to fulfil not to destroy and to know what do we have to break and how to build.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Reflect on these questions:
1. What is the danger for some heretical religious organizations to add or take away words from the Bible? What is the problem according to Jesus?

2. What were the problems of those Pharisees? Is it what they taught was wrong? Is it their tradition was wrong? What's really wrong? How can a church or a Christian catch the same "virus"?  Have you seen such examples of those who can talk but cannot live out what they talk about? How much destruction would that bring to others?

3. Have you read the whole Bible, New Testament and Old Testament once? What's wrong with reading just part of the Bible? What is your new plan to read the whole Bible now?

4. Have you got the balance to keep those tradition that God commands and change those things in the tradition that God wants us to change?

Family Corner:
1. How do you help your family to keep those that needs to keep and change those that need to change?

2. How can you encourage your family members to finish reading the whole Bible and then continuous to read the Bible as many times as possible?

Praise and Thanksgiving

The best way to keep you being with Jesus for these 40 days is to find two more friends coming together weekly using this blog/podcast and encouraging each others to use it daily. This is what I call "Discipler123" - One discipler having two friends being with Jesus daily for 40 days first then hopefully can continue for a period of three months.
